That’s a headline from the Babylon Bee, a parody news website. It’s not a “real” headline from one of the bizarre CIA/regime/media hybrids that calls themselves “news providers” these days.
But boy, I think that headline is reflecting a real underlying truth. Not just in NYC subways, but all across the Western world.
For those who didn’t see the story, Daniel Penny is the former Marine who is currently on trial for killing Jordan Neely, a homeless man with mental problems who (allegedly) often terrorized passengers on subway trains.
On the day in question (alleges Penny), Neely was behaving erratically, shouting and threatening him and others. Penny put Neely in a chokehold, after which Neely died.
Penny is alleging self-defense. Many passengers on that train car agree with that characterization.
The city of New York disagrees.
So, here’s a Haman Nature view of the relevant timeline here:
NYC’s subway riders (and residents in general) experience rampant violence, theft, and harassment from criminals over several years.
The police do little to nothing to stop it.
“Liberal” district attorneys go very soft on crime, sometimes releasing violent offenders back onto the streets the same day as the arrest.
When a citizen fights back (in a very highly publicized incident) the full force of “the law” comes crashing down on him.
Criminals (responding to incentives like everybody else) become even more emboldened.
Crime on the subway gets so bad that Governor Hochul calls in the National Guard to try to curb it a little.
This all is perfectly predictable and horribly disturbing. And again, I don’t think this is just a “New York City Subway” problem.
Our Dear Leaders all across Western civilization are enacting legislation and policy that encourages criminality and criminalizes self-defense. It’s almost like the politicians despise the citizenry and want them terrorized.
I hope I’m imagining things or over-reacting or misinterpreting honest motives or good intentions. But I don’t think I am.
I think we are coming under a regime of anarcho-tyranny and we need to fight back against it before it’s too late to pull back.
