Hi folks! Today I’m going to share a couple videos with you, along with some commentary.
I’ve written before about the strange and amazing (and most welcome) political realignments that have been going on the last few years.
As awful and destructive as the Covid lockdowns, mandates, and censorship was, it has caused many on the political left to reorient themselves away from reflexive, paternalistic statism, and back towards a desire for freedom.
Similarly, the progressive left’s descent into the woke, identitarian, racist, sexist, madness of DEI and ESG and child-mutilating trans insanity has caused many on the left to wonder what on earth has happened to their party.
In the cracks of this realignment, many thought leaders on the left and the right are having productive conversations again and coming together to find common ground and rediscover shared values.
These last few tumultuous years have also made people that were formerly not politically or intellectually active and vocal choose to enter civil discourse in an attempt to heal our crippled society.
This is all amazing and to the good and is the reason why people like Glenn Greenwald, Jimmy Dore, Bret Weinstein, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, and RFK Jr. and many others have abandoned the Democrats to try to forge something meaningful and new, starting with Trump and aiming beyond.
It’s been an absolute pleasure seeing these people have meaningful and productive discussions with conservative commentators like Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens and others.
Even better, all these people have been having very productive conversations with libertarian commentators like Dave Smith, Scott Horton, Tom Woods, and many more.
We are shifting away from heavily siloed enemies who never hear ideas from others in a spirit of good faith, towards a culture and spirit that embraces others with the honest understanding that we all have things to learn from one another.
It’s exciting.
But all these people I’ve mentioned so far have been honest, good-faith actors who happen to hold opposing political views. What would happen if an actual mouthpiece of the corrupt and evil regime were to start engaging in honest conversations like these?
Is it possible? If it were possible, what would happen?
Well, the adventures of Chris Cuomo are an early experiment, and I am watching eagerly.
Chris Cuomo was a premier talking head on CNN during its darkest years and could always be counted on to carry water for the Deep State and the left-leaning elements of the regime. He cheerlead for Covid lockdowns and mask/vax mandates and demonized any dissenters who would dare oppose the “talking points” that emanated from Washington DC (under Democratic leadership) and the DNC headquarters.
But then he got fired. Now he’s a free agent. Now he’s talking to people outside his bubble without having his paycheck depend on defending his former masters.
Now he only has his own cognitive dissonance to contend with, and it’s fascinating to watch him wrestle with it.
The struggle is real. Cuomo is a smart guy who doesn't want to be wrong. But he also doesn't want to have been wrong so loudly and publicly. He's on a difficult journey.
The first video I want to encourage you to devour is Dave Smith confronting Cuomo about his record during the Covid hysteria on Patrick Bet-David’s show. It’s a well-deserved ass whuppin’ and I think you’ll enjoy seeing Cuomo taken to task for his wretched behavior during that time.
The second video is a more thoughtful discussion between Cuomo and Tucker Carlson on Tucker’s show. There are stark disagreements of course, but there’s also much more of a meeting of the minds.
Cuomo’s guard is lowered, and he’s taking Carlson’s arguments and worldview seriously. He also reflexively returns volley with regime talking points, but compared to Tucker’s mastery of certain subjects, these read as hollow and pathetic.
And I think even Cuomo can feel it.
Again, fascinating.
Both these videos are long, but I really think you’ll find them entertaining and edifying.
Enjoy!
Naturally,
Adam
